Black

I colored my hair black and when people see me they say "oh you colored your hair black..." that's it, the end. So what does that mean? You know that sisters are painfully honest so I asked Tracey what that meant. She replied "well I'm just used to seeing you blonde." What does that mean? The thing is that my hair is what it is and to undo BLACK is not going to happen. So my new plan is to smile and pretend my hair is blonde and when someone says "oh you colored your hair black..." I will cleverly reply, "you must be thinking about someone else." Then THeY will be left thinking "what does that mean?" ha ha.

Sittng on my couch

I am sitting on my couch reading blogs and thinking about vacumming. My life is a fine line between struggler and making it through the day without adventure. But I was thinking, that is probably what I am missing is the adventure of struggling. So yesterday I fell off my fine line into strugglerhood. I had to run some errands so I walked outside to my fine looking minivan and tried to start it. Of course, being the struggler that I am, I left the lights on the night before and the battery was dead. dang. Not a problem, I took JR's little 2 wheel drive truck...in the snow... and headed out. My first destination was the hospital to get some blood drawn for my disease of the week. I finally got called in the registration area and the lady said "did you fast for 12 hours?" Oh man! I forgot to fast!
So on to my next destination, the phsychiatrist to pick up some medicine and get a perscription. After I slid through the parking lot barley missing a few cars, I go to the office and the receptionist tells me the doctor just went into an appoinment and will be out in an hour and a half! wow that must have been some appointment. dang. So I leave and head to my final stop, the pharmacy.
The pharmacist saw me walk up and said you must be Kimberly Adams." I thought how amazing that she would remeber me!" But she had just filled a perscription for me. She tells the the cost and I realized I had forgot my debit card! dang dang! I go out to my car and find a check book with one check in it! It is my lucky day! Ya see it all worked out in the end... sort of...I had to go today and get my labs done but every day is a new adventure.

Christmas Time!

It's time to dig out the tree and the decorations...To psych myself up and make it magical for my kids. Kids are the best part of Christmas, they are the innocence that bring out the purity of the holiday. I love looking at the excitement in my kids eyes when they see the lights on the houses or when we decorate the tree. It makes it worth the noise and chaos of Christmas morning when they open their presents and there is paper and toys everywhere. Every year I try to emphasize the Savior's birth as the reason for our celebration and I hope they internalize the sacred nature of the holiday and remember the real reason for our celebration.

WELCOME HOME US!

OUr trip was so fun! But, more about that later when I post pictures. We came home and there was a big buldge in the ceiling in the kitchen. The faucet in our bathroom up stairs broke and leaked. Dang. So today, the water is off and JR is doing his best McGiver act ever and is going to fix it..... or maybe we will just call our homeowners insurance. P.S. I have to actually get my film developed before I can post pictures...no dogs in these photos.

Kindergarten (I don't think I spelled it right)

AJ starts kindergarten tommorow. I have mixed feeling. I am making afternoon plans to run errands and go to lunch with friends but at the sames time, I am kind of sad to see my baby go to school. I am so nervous for him. Will he be ok on the bus? Will he like his teacher and class? Will I get a call from the principal? So many emotions! Maybe I should ride the bus and sit in his class with him just to makes sure he doesn't need me. OR maybe I should just have more kids. ha ha ha ha just kidding.

STUPID CANCER!

My friend's dad has stage 4 cancer. Our family has grown up with thiers and I consider them famiy. It is hard to see them go through this. Mike is amazing! He is so patient and funny. I think with his faith and determination he will beat it and be around to know his great grand kids! He said he got a card from someone that said "Stupid Cancer!" and I agree. Stay Strong Mike, You are in my prayers.

Not Much

I wanted to post something but I can't remember what it is now...Our dogs climbed the fence and got out yesterday, I thought we would never find them, we looked FOREVER! JR said he would retire in 30 years and by then all the boys will be back from their missions and we can go on one. I am thinking about substitute teaching. What do you think? I am also thinking about taking a break from school because I have lost ALL interest in it. It makes it hard to get school work done. School starts (for the boys) in 2 weeks and I am so excited I can hardly stand it! Well, that is it, thanks and come visit again!

Slide Show

I wanted to do a slide show but I can't figure out how to do it. I took pictures of the Warren 4th of July Parade. It is only a mile long but it is the best parade in the state. I also had a couple of old rolls of film I got developed. It has been fun to look at the old pictures.

Puppies 3 months old July 9

I have new pictures of our puppies. They are bigger than Taffy now and I can't tell if they are playing or bullying the poor girl. Either way, taffy is out number and out sized.

WHEN IT RAINS IT POORS

As a violent thunderstorm rolled through Utah last Friday, lives were suddenly disrupted by the destructive path left by this great force of nature. This storm did not tear down barns or push over trees, this storm targeted a small family minivan in the quiet town of Warren. The destruction unknowingly occurred Friday afternoon as the family of five huddle together for safely in their simple home. Unbeknown to them, the storm sought out the white Honda Odyssey and shattered the back passenger side window. After conquering the minivan, the storm moved on to other cities leaving pieces of broken glass as evidence of its crime. The devastation left the family picking up the pieces of their beloved shattered window only to drive another day with a hole where the window had once been.

AJ is funny!

Tonight we had a bbq with some of JR's aunts and AJ was so funny. We also had our neighbors from next door come over and eat with us. We were standing around talking when AJ came up to us and said, "Those puppies are damn cute!" It was so funny but i decided I really need to stop swearing. Earlier he had been next door at Margene's and she asked him if he wanted to eat some peas from her garden.... his reply, "I can't eat peas, I have heart problems" He says the funniest things.

Words of Wisdom from "They Might be Giants"

"I've often been told that you only can do what you know how to do well
and that's be you, be what your like, be like yourself.."

"I can shake my tiny fist and swear I wasn't wrong but what's the sense of arguing when your all alone."

growing puppies

Our puppies are growing so fast! Molly is fystee. Gus follows right behind her and they have kicked Taffy out of her corner of the garage where she sleeps. They also think they can come in and out of the house as they please. It's a good thing they are cute! They really are and so much fun! That's about it for now.... oh and rain makes them stinky.

NEW PUPPIES!

JR brought home two new puppies a couple of days ago. They are great pyreneese so they are going to be huge. I am really excited. So are the boys. They were outside at 6:00 this morning to play with the poor puppies. Hopefully they will keep the kids busy this summer. Thier names are Gus and Molly and they are 8 weeks old.

Graduation Time!

This week was full of graduation excitement! Isaac graduated from kindergarten Monday and AJ graduated from preschool today. They were so funny. Except I am starting to have concerns about spoiling AJ. I hope it is not too late. Let me explain where the concern began...

Monday when I was trying to video Isaac's graduation for JR and of course, I had AJ with me, who thought it was just wrong that they were singing so loud and hurting his ears. So, in protest to the disruption of his inner peace, he proceeded to cry as loud as he could through the entire program. I didn't let it distract me from my purpose, because as noted in previous blogs, I will not give up! I dutifully ignored the screaming and crying and didn't miss a minute of Isaac's program. I think all you can really hear on the video is AJ but at least we can see Isaac!
The saga continued today at AJ's graduation. I thought to myself, "this is going to be so fun because I don't have any kids sitting with me and I can enjoy the program without any interruptions." ha ha ha ha ha ha. That is what I get for thinking! AJ definitely made his presence known as he ran across the front of the stage over and over again until his preschool teacher caught him and made him sit by her. He continued scowling at the crowd throughout the entire program while parents adored their angel children dutifully singing songs they didn't know the words to. I don't know if I have ever had a prouder moment as a mother. I am scared for his kindergarten teacher next year.

I documented both events with video and pictures so readers can get the full effect of the great job I have done babying my youngest son. I can't wait for that mother of the year award!
I am working on the video, this could take a while...like the lawn mower. as soon as I figure it out I will post it.

UPDATE ON THE LAWN MOWER

JR wanted me to mention that the old battery to the lawn mower was fine, it just wasn't charged. So I had to take the new one back the next day. Total embarassment.

Can someone help?

I want to post friend and family blogs but I still don't know how. can someone help?

Mowing the Lawn NO MATTER WHAT!

First I had to pull all the pieces of the riding mower out of the garage and put it together. Yes, there are pieces that have to be assembled when you are married to JR. After forever of trying to figure out how to assemble the simplest things, pumping up the flat tires, checking the oil, and putting the tiny bit of gas I happen to have in it, I sat down and tried to start it up with no success.
I was a little disappointed but, no problem, I said no matter what and that is what I meant. I figured it was the battery so I hooked the jumper cable to the fun minivan, lifted up the seat of the mower, and attached the other end of the cables to the battery. I turned on the van, but I didn't think I could turn on the lawn mower because the rule is that you have to be sitting on the seat to get it to start right?
I let the van run for a few minutes thinking that the battery was smaller than the one in the van so it wouldn't take that long to charge. (It made perfect sense to me at the time.) After turning off the van and putting away the cables, I sat down on my trusty, dusty, lawn mower and tried to start it again. no luck. I was becoming discouraged but I would NOT give up now, I had spent to much time to have it all wasted with no cut grass. I sat on the lawn mower for a while until it finally came to me.....it needed spark plugs!
That seemed simple enough, all I had to do was run the Cheveron, buy spark plugs and follow the manual on how to change them. Ummmmmmmm wait, Cheveron doesn't have spark plugs. I know that now and when I came out of Cheveron I realized my zipper was down. (I am not even joking!)
My next option was Smith & Edwards. I found the lawn mower section and the spark plugs and noticed that there were different sized. Who knew? So I asked a sales guy for help. He asked, "What kind of lawn mower do you have?" I simply replied, "Orange." He looked at me with a smile and said, "you are kind of funny." and started to laugh. I told him it started with an H. Eventually I remembered I had the manual in the car and went to get it. When I came back in,I described the problem to him and he said it sounded like the battery.
They didn't sell batteries and Smith & Edwards (can you believe it?) so I went to Cal Ranch and bought a battery, took it home, put it in, and it worked! Success at last!
I started mowing the lawn and noticed the wind had turned cold and dark storm clouds were closing in but I wasn't about to quit. Then, my lawn mower died. I was out of gas. But, I wasn't finished yet, I jumped into my high speed minivan and went to Cheveron. I pulled up to the gas pump and realized I forgot my debit card. But, miracles happen and Dannika drove up just at that moment at let me borrow five dollars for gas.
I know you would think this is the end but it's not. I rush home and there is thunder and lighting but no rain yet so I figure I still have time. I put gas in, sit down, and the dam thing won't start. Just then lighting came a little too close and I figured that was the last WHAT I was going to put up with and ran in the house.
I sent JR out to bring in the lawn mower and he sat down on it, started it up, and drove into the garage with no problem.

THE END

Happy Birthday to AJ!

My Baby turned 5 years old on Monday. That just seems so wrong. We went to the airforce museum on Saturday, also known in our house as Plane City, with Grandma and Grandpa T. AJ was so funny about the different kind of planes. The kid is a little obsessed. It was really fun. On another day Grandma Adams came over and baked a cake just for AJ. She was going to put a plane on it but he couldn't wait that long and had to play with it before the cake was done.
With all the skill I could pull out of my non-crafty self, I made an airplane cake with candles for propellers. It wasn't perfect, but AJ could tell what it was. I think we are on our way to an empty nest.... ok maybe not yet but it sure seems to be going by too fast.
